FAQs

What is tallow, and why use it in skincare?

1

Tallow is a traditional skincare ingredient made from carefully rendered beef fat. Its rich, creamy texture helps soften the skin and seal in moisture. I use grass-fed tallow and pair it with a short list of thoughtfully chosen ingredients—nothing complicated, and nothing added just to make the label longer.

Will tallow make my skin feel greasy?

2

A little goes a long way. Start with a pea-sized amount and warm it between your fingertips before applying. It may feel rich at first, but it should settle into the skin nicely when used sparingly. If your skin still feels greasy after a few minutes, you’ve probably used more than you need.

Are Snowbird products safe for sensitive skin and babies?

3

We keep our recipes simple because delicate skin often appreciates fewer ingredients. However, every person—and every baby—is different. Review the full ingredient list and patch-test a small area before wider use. For infants, allergies or an ongoing skin concern, check with your pediatrician or healthcare professional first.

5

How should I store my tallow, lip balm and other products?

What does “small batch” mean?

4

It means our products are made by hand in limited quantities rather than on a large factory line. Each batch is carefully mixed, poured and labeled, often within the same week it ships. Small variations in color, texture or scent are normal and part of working with real, minimally processed ingredients.

Keep them tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or a hot car. Natural products can soften in warm weather and become firmer when cool—this usually doesn’t affect their usefulness. Always use clean, dry hands, and stop using a product if its smell, color or texture changes unexpectedly.
